I am very excited to join the Sanborn Middle School community this fall. My name is Jay Trafton and I have been working in education for18 years. I started my teaching career at Strafford School teaching social studies to grades 6, 7, & 8 over a 14 year period. While I loved teaching, I was observing that many students were struggling to learn and teachers were equally struggling to teach because behaviors were getting in the way; it was that challenge coupled with my leadership roles that encouraged me to want to become an assistant principal. I have spent the last four years serving as the assistant principal at Franklin Middle School as well as the Emergency Management Coordinator for SAU 18 in Franklin, N.H..
My wife and I have a mixed family of five children (the 3 oldest are out
of the house serving in the military), two dogs, four goats, around 20 chickens, and one bearded
dragon. We are an avid outdoors family and spend a great deal of time in the woods and kayaking on any available water to help re-center our busy lives.
