Principal's Message

A Message from the Principal

Welcome to the virtual home of Memorial School! I am fortunate to work alongside exceptionally devoted and professional educators. Committed to “Learning for All”, the staff works collaboratively to create educational experiences that are suited to students’ educational needs resulting in successful learning at all levels. Professional collaboration gives our students a strong educational base that is built upon multiple educational perspectives, resulting in a strategically optimized approach that systemically addresses learning challenges our students may experience.  Our students receive instruction matched to his/her instructional levels, using multiple instructional delivery methods, including technology, preparing them to be informed and responsible citizens.

Memorial School is a nationally recognized model school for its work within Professional Learning Communities.  Our staff is always working together, challenging themselves and each other, demonstrating to our students their own ability to learn new things and grow as educators. Our work is based on a desire to positively impact student learning, and our successful growth is evidence of this work.

As part of the Sanborn Regional School District, Memorial Elementary teachers continue to perfect our work in assessing students’ growth related to standards and competencies.  This work within our district has been recognized nationally, and teachers continue to innovate, incorporating best practices that positively impact our students’ learning and growth.

Whole child development is important to all of us at Memorial, and we take a balanced approach toward fostering academic, social, and emotional growth.  We encourage students to demonstrate the behaviors inherent to the Responsive Classroom model, consistently recognizing students who exhibit the CARES attributes (Cooperation, Assertion, Responsibility, Empathy, and Self-regulation).  We believe that grounded in respect, and with a desire to work hard, our students will continue to be actively involved in our community. We will continue to make respect and responsibility a noticeable part of our teaching and learning every day at Memorial.
